Vonn loses out on hat trick in St. Moritz

Maria Hoefl-RieschGerman Maria-Hoefl Riesch just edged American Lindsey Vonn for the win in a World Cup super combined in St. Moritz, Switzerland today (Jan. 29). With just a three-hundredths of a second advantage, Hoefl-Riesch spoiled Vonn’s chance at completing a three-win hat trick here this weekend, forcing Vonn to wait for her 50th career World Cup win. “It would have been nice to have a hat trick. I’m really happy for Maria — but I’d rather she beat me by a second,” said Vonn.   see also: Lindsey Vonn also dominates St. Moritz  Continue reading 'Vonn loses out on hat trick in St. Moritz' Print This Post Print This Post

Cuche nips Guay for Garmisch win, Bode punished

The finish, with Erik Guay second, reversed the order of last season's World Championship race on an adjoining course. Historically Garmisch has been good to Canadian Guay and that trend held, getting his first podium of the season.  Austria again missed the top spot but had Hannes Reichelt in third. All three had to wait until the 46th skier came down to get comfortable as Bode Miller was dropped back Continue reading 'Cuche nips Guay for Garmisch win, Bode punished' Print This Post Print This Post
