Although the “resort development news” section of its website has not been updated since August, managers of the new ski resort at Revelstoke Mountain Resort in British Columbia have told journalists that they expect Canada’s latest ski resort to open on schedule on Saturday, December 22nd, for its first ski season.
Revelstoke is currenty installing an eight passenger cabin gondola imported from Europe which will immediately give the resort the second biggest lift-served vertical in North America behind Whistler. More lifts scheduled to be installed in Summer 2008 will give Revelstoke North America’s biggest lift-served vertical by more than 200m. To date some $75m has been spent on he resort with a further $50m planned investment scheduled ahead of winter 2008-9.
An initial release of 59 condominiums was snapped up on release day, whilst a subsequent sale of 25 house sites saw 20 lots quickly bought up by investors from the US and UK as well as Canada within hours of them going on sale. Buyers paid between $695,000 and $1.35m for each plot. House prices have tripled in the area over the past four years.
