An annual study by the Swiss research institute ‘BAK Basel Economics’ has placed arrived at the Austrian ski region of Kleinwalsertal at the top of a league of the most successful ski areas in the Alps at present, with Zermatt in second place and Zell am See-Kaprun third.
The BAK report states: “Thanks to their attractiveness each of the regions can ask for a hotel tariff above the average and at the same time achieve highest occupancy rates.’
In Zell am See-Kaprun’s case, the resort reports average stays of 5.2 days per guest lodging in four and five-star hotels, which it believes is the best any resort can claim worldwide. Last winter the resort increased visitor numbers from the UK by a fifth, from Denmark by 30.12 per cent and from Poland by 8.44 per cent, leading to a four per cent growth overall.
