Fog and rain force cancellation of final event at World Cup Finals
A combination of rain and fog forced the cancellation of today’s team event, bringing the 2008 FIS World Cup Finals in Bormio, ITA to an end.
Led by Britt Janyk’s (Whistler, BC) bronze in the overall Ladies downhill standings, Canada ended the 2007/08 World Cup season sixth in the Nation’s Cup standings with 3637 points. Austria led the way with 13560 points followed by Switzerland, Italy, the United States and France. And Canada finished third in super G points with 1323, behind Austria (3,323) and Switzerland (1,832).

Miller the alpine king, but future is still uncertain
World Cup ski king Bode Miller left question marks hanging over his entire vision of the sport after finally getting his hands on the coveted overall crown here Sunday.
Miller dominated the series with 1409 points, with Austrian Benjamin Raich, the 2006 champion, finishing in second place on 1298 and Swiss Didier Cuche a close third on 1263.

The finish line might as well have been a million miles away, so slim were her chances of crossing it. She’d just ripped through a fast flush and was two gates away from the electronic beam when, as sometimes happens when you give it your all, she got wide of the next gate, body going one way, skis the other and only a miracle could keep her from falling.
