Freeskiier and Alpine racer Jon Olsson went through meniscus surgery this past Monday to repair torn cartilage from earlier competition.
Despite the challenges of the operation, Olsson is not letting it detract him as he begins a new adventure during his recovery path with Freestyle.ch as a reporter for his video blog.
It was after a preventative MRI scan last Thursday that Jon decided to go through with a minor correction of his meniscus since he has occasionally has suffered from pain in his right knee.
I have been a bit worried since I haven’t felt that the knee has worked 100% during my training in New Zealand. The decision was in my hands so I thought it is better to do the correction now and don’t risk anything in the future. It was just a small operation so I should be back on skis in a month. I’m really positive about it, this is my first injury in my career, so it was about time and luckily it’s just a minor thing,”
says Jon. “I’m hoping to be back mid October for Icer Air in San Francisco.”
“Since I can’t ride in Zurich I will be there as a reporter for the Jon Olsson Video blog. I know that there is a hunger out there to see what goes on behind the scenes so I’m going to Zurich with two camera guys to do a full story for my fans,” says Jon.
The Jon Olsson Video Blog is a media platform run by Jon where you can find the latest news in the industry and what goes on in the life of a professional skier. You can follow Freestyle.ch and Jon’s rehab on www.jon-olsson.com/videoblog
