A new quad chairlift at Marmot Basin ski area near Jasper in Alberta Canada looks likely to be one of the only new lifts to open in North America next year, due largely to the economic slump.
The new Marmot Basin quad follows agreement on development with the various public agencies in the area, particularly the National Park in which the ski area is located.
The new quad will be 2.3km (nearly 1.5 miles) long, making it the longest detachable quad in the province’s Rocky mountains, and will rise just under 2000 vertical metres (650 vertical metres) dramatically improving access from the resort base to a large sector of the ski area’s terrain, giving a direct route to the upper slopes and replacing an elderly double chair and a T bar lift previously required to make the connection
