New York ski resorts set all time record with 4 million visits in 2008-09

New York state ski resorts have broken a new record, with more than four million skiers in the 2008-09 season, making it the fourth popular ski state behind Colorado, California and Vermont.

According to the news report by SAM Info, the state’s tourism division partnered with Ski Areas of New York (SANY) to position and leverage the skiing facilities as a viable and accessible option for winter travel.

Now that the season is over, all efforts are on for the 2009-10 season. A number of projects are ongoing however the most notable is Gore Mountain in North Creek as it continues to work interconnecting lift with the North Creek Ski Bowl. Holiday Valley in Ellicottville is building the Tamarack Hotel and rebuilding the Champagne Mountain Top Warming Hut, with additional snowmaking improvements and plans for rebuilding the main lodge.
