Sure, Whistler has two mountains, but does it have a casino?
Mont Tremblant in Canada, one of the most popular ski resort destinations in Eastern North America has just opened a brand new casino as a year-round tourist attraction.
Already the new gambling facility is popular with over 7,000 curious visitors coming to the on the first day and 4,000 visitors on average daily basis since the facility opened for business on June 24.
Located at the base of the Versant Soleil ski area, the casino offers some 400 slot machines and 25 gaming tables with dealers, including 5 Texas Hold’em poker tables. There is also a 125-seat bar where snacks are served.

About 550 people gathered to celebrate the inauguration of the Casino de Mont-Tremblant, including Québec Minister of Tourism Nicole Ménard, Québec National Assembly Member for Labelle Sylvain Pagé, the Mayor of Mont-Tremblant, Pierre Pilon, and Loto-Québec President and CEO Alain Cousineau.
“After many months of work, we are truly proud to open our doors and let people see how we have left no stone unturned in our efforts to make this casino something quite unique,” said Cousineau.
It goes without saying that the new casino is a four-season attraction that will help strengthen the status of Mont-Tremblant as an international tourist magnet.”
Loto-Québec said it intends to continue to be involved in the community as a good corporate citizen.
Minister Nicole Ménard was content with what the casino meant for the economic development of the Laurentian region.
Despite the praise, the introduction casino project was the subject of heavy regional scrutiny as many local landowners and businesses felt the gambling facility did not have a place on a ski hill and an area with summer outdoor recreation and family vacations.
“Besides the 225 jobs it will create, the new Casino is a formative project for the local economy that will make a positive contribution to regional development,” Ménard added.
