U.K. ski market down 13 per cent last season

The stats are confirming what many suspected during the ski season. The economic collapse is taking it’s toll.
SkiRebel.com has learned that ski resorts in the United Kingdom suffered a 13.3 per cent drop in sales last season despite a good start and excellent snow conditions.
Published in the 2009 Crystal Ski Industry Report, the news follows seven straight seasons of growth. Authors of the report believe the drop is due to skiers skipping the season overall or taking a reduced number of ski trips and reduced airline capacity.
The only promising note in the report was that ski schools remained busy with more than 140,000 skiers taking lessons.
The information was collected from the statistics of tour operators, tourist offices, travel agencies, and other sources.
