Twenty years ago, filmmaker Greg Stump blew away the skiing world.
He did it with what is considered the first big extreme skiing movie, the one that paved the way for modern extreme ski movies. Blizzard of Aahhh’s was the first in-depth look at alternative skiing in a feature film, and became a VHS classic.
Some still consider it the best ski movie of all time .
Ten years after making his last film, Stump announced last year that he was directing a follow-up to Blizzard entitled Legend of Aahhh’s: A True Story, a film billed as a history of ski movies that stretches back to the 1920s and even chronicles the impact of Blizzard.
Stump released a seven-minute trailer for Legend back in March which can be seen here Legend had its debut at a private screening at Sundance Film Festival back in January, and is expected to be released this fall. The movie has already generated some buzz online over the last year, and Stump is hoping it will have a mainstream appeal.
“It’s a ski movie that looks like a movie,” said Stump in an interview with SkiPressWorld Magazine last fall. “You can be a tennis player and still really enjoy this film.”
