Although it’s not yet known when the indoor ski slope at New Jersey’s Xanadu complex will open, at least it will be easy to get to.
With the site already accessible by several highways, SkiRebel.com has learned that a newly completed 2.3-mile (3.7 km) long rail spur and train station now connect the complex in the Meadowlands area to the nearby Pascack Valley train line in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The ‘virtually complete’ $2.2 billion retail complex is expected to attract an estimated six million visitors per year. With the Meadowlands area being home to sports facilities like Giants Stadium which hosts National Football League games, the new train access should alleviate some of the added road congestion likely to occur at peak periods.
Train service will begin this summer to service the site’s sports facilities before Xanadu’s official opening, which is expected to happen sometime next year. Journey time will be about ten minutes from Secaucus, which is considered a major transit hub accessible from many parts of New Jersey, New York City, and even Long Island.
The rail link cost $182 million to complete.
