Megeve in France opened the first ski lift in the country especially for skiers, building the Rochebrune cable car in 1933.
It also claims to be the place where special trousers for skiers, widely known as ‘ski pants’ and in France as ‘Fuseau’ were invented, 80 years ago.
The first special ski trousers were created by Armand Allard in 1930 under the direction of legendary ew ski racer Emile Allais, and by the end of the decade were being worn by the French national ski team.
This winter the famous resort will celebrate with a special event, the AAllard Cup, on February 20th. The event, organised at the Cote 2000 ski base, will have a special ‘period costume’ section featuring skiwear, especially ski pants, from the 1930s.
