Swiss resort Crans Montana’s competition run, Piste Nationale, has been upgraded this season. This piste, structurally improve in the autumn ready for the Men’s Ski World Cup races, should delight all downhill fans, not just competitors. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to enjoy the widened Piste Nationale this winter; it has been completely remodelled and aims to offer exceptional skiing conditions. Two tunnels have been constructed so that the Crans-Montana ski area won’t be cut into two on race dates.
After a few years absence, Crans-Montana will again be entering into the atmosphere of the ‘White Circus’ when it organizes the Men’s European Ski Cup on the 31st January and 1st February. The resort sees this event is an important step towards hosting future World Cup events.
Down in the resort centre, the Rue du Grand-Place and Rue du Prado streets have had a facelift. Following redevelopment work, these streets are much more welcoming and pleasant than before. Pedestrians have much more space, and will be able to enjoy tents, bars and other terraces along the street. As far as vehicles are concerned, the speed limit will be 30 km/h (19mph). Trees also add a touch of greenery to these areas.
