Le Massif ski resort near Quebec City in Canada is at the heart of a $210 million (£120m) investment program spread out over the coming seasons.

SkiRebel.com has learned that among the improvements is the resort’s refurbishing of a disused railway line to launch a train service between Quebec City and Le Massif by 2011. The service will have carriages that stay overnight at the resort for those wishing to sleep over on the train and ski in the morning.

A daily shuttle bus will begin running this season between Quebec City and Le Massif taking skiers out and back for a day’s skiing. This service is scheduled to begin on December 26th.

The investments will also include a new eco-hotel at the mountain to be built between 2011 and 2013, and 30% more ski runs to be created for 2012-2013.

Le Massif, built from the banks of the massive St Lawrence River, is part owned by Daniel Gauthier who established Cirque du Soleil.
