London rocks major ski industry events

Record crowds caught incredible tricks at both the Metro Ski & Snowboard Show and the 2009 Ride Freesport Film Festival last month in London, England.

The Metro Ski + Snowboard Show turned out to be an amazing event with riders from the UK and across Europe battling it out to finish in an amazing final.  Riders such as PC Fosse, Paddy Graham, James Woods and Mike Wakefield threw it down for the thousands of spectators. In the end UK’s Murray Buchan managed to impress the judges the most, pulling a massive nine nose with huge amplitude, almost clearing the run out.

The 4th Ride Freesport Film Festival in association with Ski Club of Great Britain and Ski TV took place at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, London. The event kick started the winter season for the UK ski market with three short ski movies being shown and three ski photographers being showcased.

The short films and ski photography were judged by Phil Streather, founder of PLF and an IMAX movie producer, Chris Carr, founder of Brain Creative Concepts and Production, Rob Tucker, founder One Six productions and Nuview. In the end, Nick Southwell’s ‘White Worlds’ movie took first place for the films and Camilla Stoddart’s montage of photography took first for the Photographers.
