Are baby boomers taking back the slopes?

Although economic conditions have shrunk the ski vacation market in recent seasons, perhaps it’s affecting younger skiers more than anyone else.

The market for more mature skiers is booming with tour operator Ski Freshtracks, with over 35 per cent of their bookings so far for the 2009-2010 season being for their Peak Experience program, holidays for skiers over 50.

The biggest provider of ski holidays specifically for older skiers, Ski Freshtracks offers 26 dedicated trips with a huge variety of resorts and types of holidays. Because all holidays are graded by ski standard and hosted by experienced holiday leaders, the Ski Freshtracks concept is ideal for older couples or solo skiers.

“We understand that our more mature ski clients are still looking for a wide choice of resorts, smart accommodation and whatever their standard, an adventure to suit,” said Caroline Boileau, General Manager of Ski Freshtracks. “Also, as each holiday group is graded by ability, every skier has a sociable experience with like-minded skiers of the same standard.”
