Sweden's IceHotel is stocked for it's 20th birthday party

For those of you who thought hotels made of ice were just a fad, take a look at Sweden’s.

This winter the IceHotel will be celebrating 20 years of rebuilding the incredible structure in the Swedish Arctic each year from tonnes of ice and snow. Although Finland’s newer version is establishing itself as a rival destination, the Swedish attraction can now boast two decades worth of continued winter hospitality.

Celebrations planned for the 2009–2010 season include the introduction of special deals for single travelers, who will be able to save on stays by opting to share with another single (same sex) traveler. This offer is valid for the ‘IceHotel Break’ and ‘Christmas at the IceHotel’ trips only and includes an upgrade to an Art Suite combined with a two-bedroom Northern Lights Chalet.

The Northern Lights Chalets have a single room and a double room with skylights, so travelers would just share the bathroom and lounge areas. Art Suites are larger than standard Snow Rooms and individual sleeping bags provided, but the ice bed would be shared.

Three night breaks start from £886 (€980) per person including flights and transfers with Discover the World’s exclusive direct 3 ½ hour flight between Heathrow and Kiruna in Swedish Lapland.
