Indoor slopes hit UK malls

Arndale Shopping Mall in Manchester, England looked much snowier in October.

After Arndale mall in Manchester enjoyed a promotional indoor snow slope last month, Gunwharf Quays mall in Portsmouth gets ready to host its own during the holiday season.

England’s south coast will definitely see snow this winter as SNO!zone, the operator of three UK indoor snow slopes, will create the Portsmouth mall slope.

The Gunwharf Quays shopping centre is also installing a 15m (48ft) long Sno!slide tubing attraction from December 12 to December 24, and the plaza is being developed into a family-orientated Snow Village. Along with tubing the facility will offer snowman building in a snow garden and a Christmas grotto for visits to Santa.

Earlier this Fall, Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre enjoyed it’s own indoor slope. Norwegian outdoor clothing brand Helly Hansen promoted the opening of its first UK branded retail store by installing an indoor ski slope at the mall.

The 20 metre indoor slope hosted mini displays from professional snowboarders and skiers to build awareness of the outdoor clothing brand’s new store in the shopping centre.
