The ultimate ‘Snow Bum’ contest has moved in to its final stage, with entrants narrowed down to a top 20 potential bums from nine countries worldwide.
The competition was launched by Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia, Canada last month to win a near season-long luxury stay in the resort. Contestants stand to win three months of room and board in Sun Peaks along with all they need to ski every day, in exchange for which they need only compile a blog on the resort’s web site were asked to submit video entries online.
Judges will be conducting interviews over the next week and will announce the official Sun Peaks Snow Bum on December 1, 2009. The top 20 finalists have been selected from an array of what the resort describes as, “creative and energetic submissions,” sent in from ten countries around the world.
There are five finalists from Australia, six from Canada – including one Sun Peaks local – three from the UK and one each from France, Germany, The Netherlands, New Zealand and the USA, and Brazil. The video posted above is Brazilian ski bum hopeful and top 20 finalist Thiago.
The competition sparked half-a-dozen copycat contests across North America.
