Ski Rebel Magazine will be visible at this year's Tremblant charity relay race.

It’s official, Ski Rebel magazine will be sponsoring a ski team for the first time ever at Mont Tremblant’s annual 24 Heures de Tremblant charity relay race.

The ninth staging of the relay race takes place between Friday December 11th and Sunday the 13th. The famous Quebec resort’s season launching event is also the biggest fundraiser in Canada’s ski industry and annually attracts more than 1000 racers who ski or board through the night to raise funds for needy children.

Ski Rebel’s six-member relay team will be competing in the event, racing for 24 hours straight from noon Saturday until noon Sunday. They’ll be visible with the SkiRebel flag and SkiRebel stickers on their helmets.

Before the race starts, the goal is to raise as much as possible for the various children’s charities, as individual team members and as a team. Anyone can help support the Ski Rebel team by going to their team web page and sponsoring them with any amount.

“We had such an awesome time last year that I’d love to be a part of this pretty much any season I can,” said Alex Leduc, Ski Rebel team captain and SkiRebel.com editor. “And this year, with the magazine’s support, we’ll hopefully raise even more for the event’s charities.”

Team members Leduc, Tanya McClure, Erik Holody, Paul Gibbons, Sandrine Cartier, and Roberto Gibbons Gomez originate from different parts of Central Canada and are all experienced skiers. Three of them were on a team which finished 51st out of over 200 teams at last year’s event.

Last year, Leduc and his team were called the "Icy Nuts", seeing as how they were a bit "nuts" on the hill and covered in ice, not any other meaning of course.

Last year, Leduc (2nd from right) and his team were called the"Icy Nuts". McClure (far left) and Holody (3rd from right) are also returning members.

The team’s fundraising goal is $1000, but Leduc expects to raise a much greater amount. “All six of our members will be raising their own funds, and we greatly exceeded that mark last year,” said Leduc. McClure raised an astonishing $1500 on her own last year.

“I’m happy to be able to participate in this way, and hope I can hit the slopes with the team at Tremblant,” said Frederick Wallace, President of SportsRebel Media Ventures (SMV) Ltd. “I participated in the inaugural event eight years ago and it’s definitely become a highlight of the Canadian ski season.”

The event raised over a million dollars last year for children's charities.
