Ski tour operator Zenith have sponsored a polar bear through the World Wildlife Fund.

With the Copenhagen climate conference under way, tour operator Zenith have decided to capitalize on the spike in environmental sentiments in Europe.

They have decided to sponsor a polar bear and a snow leopard, both threatened by climate change, and donate a portion of tour income this winter. For every £1,000 of revenue through the sponsored rooms, Zenith will increase their donation by £10. Zenith Holidays chalets have rooms named after animals from the Snowy Owl to the Polar Bear.

“We decided that when you book one of our chalets, you’ll know that some of your cash is going towards helping two endangered species,” said Zenith director Stuart McLeod. “It is no secret that the Polar Bear’s environment is under threat, and as we have a Chalet L’Ours Blanc (Polar Bear) in Montgenevre, we thought we should support the Polar Bear, so we sponsored it with the World Wildlife Fund. As for the Snow Leopard, there are not many of them left and they can only be found in the mountains of central Asia and the Himalayas, so we sponsored that too.”
