This vintage Davos, Switzerland poster is one of many to be sold or auctioned off.

A ski poster sale and auction to be staged in Christie’s in South Kensington on January 21st has been organized to help the British Ski and Snowboard Team, who are heading off to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada.

Christie’s South Kensington annual ski sale includes approximately 300 lots of international ski and winter sports posters, the majority of which date from the turn of the twentieth century to the 1950s. Consensio, which organizes holidays in luxurious chalets, is offering the star auction prize of a week in April for up to 10 guests at Chopine in Meribel.

According to organizers, money raised at the sale and auction will make a tremendous difference to the ski team’s individual athletes who will receive a much needed direct financial contribution towards their training and competition costs.

The sale also embraces the international sporting spirit as a selection of Olympic posters are introduced to the mix paying homage to the ultimate winter sporting experience.

Leading figures from British sport including Damon Hill, Colin Jackson, Steve Redgrave and Clive Woodward will all be present. Artists including Ludwig Hohlwein, Alois Carigiet, Witold Gordon and Hugo Laubi offer an evocative take on this esteemed event, harking back almost one hundred years to the games of the early twentieth century.
