If you don’t like partying with armies of women who’ve left their morals at home, then we suggest you avoid Formigal ski resort in the Spanish Pyrenees this weekend.
Hoards of partying women will hit the bars of Formigal on Friday to celebrate Santa Águeda day. Unsuspecting men should beware that on this one night of the year, ladies have the right to relieve you of your shirt, and anything else that takes their fancy.
This annual party, celebrated in villages throughout Spain, is in honour of the early Christian martyr, Santa Águeda (or Saint Agatha) who was cruelly tortured and eventually killed, but not before both her breasts were brutally cut off.
During the last centuries, Santa Águeda’s stoic Christian beliefs and high moral values of virginity and chastity have oddly been replaced by a more hedonistic attitude, but she still represents strong women. As a final honour to her sacrifice, kind of, desserts served on the night of the 5th February are two round cakes with cherries on top.
For Brits, Crystal Ski is offering holidays to Formigal from £469 (€539) for a week, half board in the three-star Hotel Nieve Sol with flights and transfers.
