The Düsseldorf International Airport enjoyed an indoor ski jump this weekend as a part of the sevent annual TravelSuperMart event.
The jump is believed to be the world’s first indoor snow ski jump ever built in an airport. The 40m (130ft) long jump hosted snowboarders and freestyle skiers making jumps of up to 10m from the real snow surface.
The ski jump is part of a wider entertainment programme associated with TravelSuperMart, a travel and tourism consumer show with exhibits by airlines, tour and cruise operators, destinations, and bureaus.
The jump was opened by former British Olympic ski jumper Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards. More than 80,000 passengers and visitors were expected to pass by the exhibit at Germany’s third largest airport.
