Skiers can now stay up to date with Skiinfo’s snow reports with a new iPhone app from the snow information provider.
The new application allows users to search for snow data from more than 1500 ski resorts in Europe. It gives daily updates of snowfall, current weather, snow depth statistics, ski-lift status and comments from other users of the service. The information is also available in a choice of 10 languages, including English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch and Polish.
“We decided to develop an iPhone app following requests from users,” said developer Henrik Halvorsen Hortemo. “It follows our success with our widget for Mac OS X, so we saw the potential for a dedicated program for the iPhone.”
The “Skiinfo Snow Report” is available in the App Store for 1.59 euro / GBP 1.19 / USD 1.99 / NOK 11 / DKK 12 / SEK 15.
For skiers who frequent the Italian Alps, the Dolomiti Superski Region is the latest ski area to publish its own iPhone app.
The free app delivers the latest news from the region, and suggestions based on your location. Features include current weather conditions, three days of weather forecasts for your location, snow depths, and the number of slopes open.
The app also allows users to plan a personalised journey on skis through the downloadable itineraries on skis or boards.
Lonely iPhone users can also find friends for their holiday through a special ‘dating’ section. The online Dolomites guide also has details of huts, gastronomy, landscapes, trails, webcams and events.
