Smugglers’ Notch resort in Vermont is sponsoring NuRide, an incentive-based ridesharing network, to encourage thousands of commuters to share rides resulting in 250,000 fewer miles driven and 100 fewer tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Participating commuters will be rewarded with free ski lift tickets and chances to win valuable family vacation packages.
The Smugglers’ Notch sponsorship on the NuRide network is part of the New York Tri-State 5,000,000 Mile Rideshare Challenge, a regional event that brings together commuters, sponsors and local governments to help alleviate traffic congestion, air pollution and global warming.
“Smugglers’ Notch Resort is committed to being responsible stewards of our surroundings. Vermont’s intrinsic beauty is integral to our business and motivates us to do our part to preserve the environment,” said Tom McGrail, Environmental Compliance Manager for Smugglers’ Notch Resort. “Participating in this innovative and flexible ridesharing program is a meaningful way we can join commuters in their mission to improve air quality and reduce the harmful effects of global warming.”
The New York Tri-State 5,000,000 Mile Rideshare Challenge involves thousands of commuters who will share rides resulting in 5,000,000 fewer miles driven and over 2,100 fewer tons of greenhouse gas emissions. To participate in the program, commuters use NuRide’s innovative online ridesharing program to find other people going their way who wish to share a ride. The NuRide website calculates the savings for each confirmed ridesharing trip and awards participants with points, which can then be redeemed for a variety of rewards provided by corporate sponsors.
NuRide was founded on the belief that individuals who share rides provide a valuable service to their community and should be rewarded for their efforts. Through the patent-pending NuRide Network(R), individuals can easily arrange ridesharing trips and earn rewards for every confirmed trip they take. Members accumulate “NuRide Miles” that can be used toward a variety of rewards that are made possible through the generosity of NuRide’s sponsors.
