Most of World’s Resorts Snowed Under

Most of the world’s major ski areas appear to be having their snowiest winter for many years. Normally at least one large region on the global ski map misses out each year, but so far this does not appear to be the case for 2007-08.
Several of the world’s more marginal ski destinations are also having an above average winter, among them Israel’s only ski centre at Mt Hermon on the Golan Heights.
Snow fell on Monday night on all of the country’s mountains above 600m in the north and center of the country as temperatures across Israel dropped sharply.
Ironically, Mount Hermon ski resort had to be closed after a heavy fall of snow made conditions there treacherous.
The Jewish National Fund reported an increase in illegal tree felling for heating purposes in the north and the Israel Electric Corporation asked the public to fasten down loose objects that might be blown away by the forceful winds, hitting power lines and disrupting the electricity supply.
