The Trentino ski mountaineering season closes on Sunday 17 April with the 31st “Scialpinistica Dolomiti di Brenta”. An event for professionals and the only one of its kind to feature such a challenging itinerary. As always, both departure and arrival points will be located in the heart of Madonna di Campiglio. From here the 150 participants that compete each year will begin the climb up to Monte Spinale and the “Cima Roma”. The event is valid for the third Nations Cup as well as being the final act of the “Dolomites Cup”.

After a long dry winter, Mt. Hood and High Cascade Snowboard Camp were pleased with the arrival of abundant late season snow. Storms have blanketed Timberline, Mt. Hood, home of High Cascade’s private snowboard park with some heavy Northwest snow.

Whilst most US ski areas have now closed for the season, with Utah resorts noting they do so with very healthy snowbases (except Snowbird, which I still open), a few dozen do soldier on.

Of the main players likely to stay open well in to May and possibly beyond, several, including Snowbird, have switched to “Spring Season” opening hours and lowered prices.
