The slopes of the Eastern Cape around South Africa’s Tiffindell Ski Resort were covered with 10cm - 15cm (four-six inches) of snow over just a few hours at the weekend.

Slush Cup At Sunshine

Sunshine Village’s annual Slush Cup takes place on Monday, May 22nd. The Canadian resort near Banff’s long ski and snowboard season officially comes to an end with the annual contest. The event features wild and crazy individuals who brave the jump into the slushy cold water. The goal is to try and make it across the water - very few make it but its fun to watch the attempts.

New Chair Approved For Jackson Hole

Following approval by the US Forest Service, Jackson Hole resort in Wyoming will construct their new East Ridge double chairlift this summer. The lift will take skiers and snowboarders to the summit of the resort next winter and until such time as a permanent replacement for the resot’s famous tram is installed. The ride will be approximately five minutes and rise 600 vertical feet (180 vertical metres) from the top of the Sublette Chairlift to the top of Rendezvous Mountain. The new East Ridge Chair, manufactured by Doppelmayer CTEC, will be capable of being moved and utilized elsewhere on the mountain in the future pending Forest Service approval.

Norwegian Skis North Face of Everest, But His Partner Is Second To Die On Route

Norwegian Tormod Granheim successfully completed a ski descent of Everest’s north face on Tuesday, but his partner, Swede, Tomas Kenneth Olsson, vanishing on their joint descent after falling above 8,000 m in an area known as “the Death Zone.” His body was recovered several days later by sherpas searching the area. Tormod Gangheim is the second to die of the
three men who have attempted to ski down the north face.
