Huge Upgrade Of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche Zermatt Ski Area

For the coming winter season 2006/2007, there’ll be a re-launch of the ‘International’ ski area of Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche in Italy and Zermatt in Switzerland with the construction of six new lifts and an increase in the artificial snowmaking cover and therefore a total of 24 lifts in the Breuil-CerviniaValtournenche area.

Lifts Go Up at Snowshoe

In West Virginia, USA, construction has begun on Snowshoe Mountain’s new high-speed detachable quad lift that will service the Widowmaker slope system and adjoining trails for the 2006-2007 season. The $3.3m project is being built by Doppelmayr CTEC.

Freeride Action at Perisher Blue

Perisher Blue believes it is the first resort in Australia to offer skiers and snowboarders freeride terrain features this season. The Mini Terrain Park on Front Valley was put in place this week and consists of two boxes – one three metres and one six metres in length.

Two New Quads For Bansko

Bansko in Bulgaria will add two new quads for next winter.

The first chair connects “Banderishka polyana” place with the base of the “Todorka” piste and will improve easy ski- and snowboard terrain access for beginners.

The second new lift ascends from the “Zhelezen” sector and reaches the “Platoto” area.
