Ski enthusiasts can get a fix of their favourite sport on a summer skiing holiday in Les Deux Alpes, which has one of the highest ski areas in the world. From now until 26 August, the resort offers the largest skiable glacier in Europe – with a purpose built “snowpark”, half pipe and jumps – and all easily reached via 17 ski lifts, which open from 7am to 1pm.

Intrawest have started work on the first phase of a long-anticipated new base village for Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado. In December 2002, Intrawest signed a 76-year deal to operate Winter Park for the city of Denver.
Initial construction work has begun on the first two residential buildings, Fraser Crossing and Founders Point, which between them will offer nearly 200 lodging units, some 290 parking spaces and more than 20,000 square feet of commercial space.
Website pistehors.com has reported that the Savoie Regional Council has decided to sell part of its stake in Courchevel Lift operator S3V and some land in the area in a bid to raise some €54m. It plans to re-invest the money in smaller resorts in the Savoie Region and to boost summer tourism.

A ‘new’ ski area “Gotthard - Oberalp” will be created this winter with five ski areas offering an inter-changeable lift ticket. Between them Realp, Hospental, Andermatt, Oberalp, Sedrun and Disentis offer 130km (81 miles) of prepared piste served by 25 lifts.
The lift ticket will include free travel on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn between Sedrun, Disentis, Realp and Niederwald in the Goms Valley. Lift ticket holders will also receive a 50% discount on entry to the swimming pool complex at Sedrun.
