Zermatt on Global Warming Risk List Which Warns of Tidal Waves In the Alps

Following the spectacular fall of half a million cubic metres of rock from the Eiger earlier this month, the inevitable consequence of a 200m lowering of the glacier which supported it over the past century and a half, the Swiss government’s Environment Office has drawn up a list of towns and villages most at threat from Switzerland’s crumbling mountains.

Heavy Snow in New Zealand

Ski resorts on New Zealand’s South Island are celebrating “near record snowfall” over the weekend creating what is being claimed to be the best season-to-date for snow in the area for at least ten years.
