Bulgarian Ski Area “Unprepared” For Winter

The Head of the Bulgarian State Agency for Tourism, Mario al Djebouri, has criticised Pamporovo ski resort saying that it “unprepared” for the upcoming ski season.

Mr al Djebouri’s comments are believed to relate to a decision by local leaders to continue building work through the winter, which he fears may lead to disruption and dissatisfaction amongst holiday makers visiting the resort.

Bansko has announced a temporary construction ban whilst city plans are finalised. Once plans were ready, construction will be permitted only in certain areas.

Grandvalira’s Uplift Passes Enters World Top Ten

Andorra’s Grandvalia ski area which encompasses skiing above the resort villages of Soldeu, El Tarter, Pass de la Casa and Canillo has installed new lifts this season which takes their combined hourly uplift capacity past 100,000. Only twenty ski areas in the world offer more than 100,000 skier uplift per hour on fully lift linked terrain – all in Europe and most in France.
