Judge issues injunction blocking work on ski village
DENVER – No ground will be broken for a ski village in southwest Colorado until a lawsuit aiming to block the development is heard in court, a federal judge ruled Thursday.The ruling by U.S.District Judge John Kane in Denver extends a preliminary injunction preventing work on the project at the base of the Wolf Creek ski area.

Powderhorn US resort switches to renewable engergy

Colorado’s Powderhorn Resort is the latest US resort to switch to renewable energy, continuing the country’s world leadership in this type of move to combat climate change. More than 60 US resorts are buying some or all of their power using a method called ‘energy credits’ which means that they pay for green energy to the value of the energy they use to be generated and contributed to US national energy consumption. Homewood gets a new quad chair

Homewood Mountain Resort in North Lake Tahoe, California, has installed a new high-speed, detachable quad (the Homewood Express now replacing the Quad, providing quick access to North Side runs).

The area has been bought last year by JMA Ventures who have also acquired nearby Alpine Meadows. The company’s future plans for Homewood include a pedestrian base village, new on-mountain lodge and gondola acces lift.

The base village will include hotel, retail, condominiums, ice rink and swimming pool and amphitheatre are also scheduled.

La Clusaz invests 12 Million Euros in upgrades

La Clusaz in France is about to complete its Etale ski area in time for the 2007 season at a cost of 12m Euros. This winter, visitors will find two new ski lifts: a quad chairlift with a conveyor belt that will serve the higher section of the Etale massif, and an ultramodern ‘Telemix’, which is a combination of chairlift and gondola. It will carry eight cabins each seating eight people and 54 x six-seater chairs, all installed along the same lift cable.
