Snow Park NZ wraps up successful season

Snow Park NZ’s final fiesta weekend bought what the ski area reports to have been a successful season to a close on the weekend, with the resort experiencing a good increase in visitor numbers from the previous year.

At 44, Stuart Roberts is a retail survivor. In 20 years of trading he has weathered shifts in street fashion, the crushing dominance of big chains and the indifference of landlords. But right now the founder of Two Seasons, a 12-outlet skiing and board-riding specialist, is more preoccupied with crime than competition.


Ready? Get set! Ski! A-Basin will open for season tomorrow

It looks like Arapahoe Basin will win the competition to be the first Colorado ski resort to open for the 2007-2008 season. The Exhibition chairlift will open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, the resort said today.

“Too much snow!” the cries continue with pictures to boot. Some great news arrived from Cho Oyu though: A team of extreme skiers from Alaska made a ski descent from the peak, and Everest speed climber Christian Stangl did a speed ascent on the mountain. Meanwhile, Dhaula attempts are drawing their last breath while on Makalu, Nives and Romano are steadily marching on.
