Injuries sideline two Olympic skiers over weekend

John Kucera was an Olympic medal contender for Canada before this weekend's injury.

It was a disastrous weekend for those looking forward to Canadian and American skiing medals in this winter’s Olympic games in Vancouver.

Not one but two Olympic skiers went down with serious injuries during World Cup races in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada on Saturday and Sunday, eliminating any chances of either competing in the games. The U.S.’s TJ Lanning, a native of Park City, Utah, fractured a vertebrae in his neck and dislocated his left knee on Saturday, while Calgary native and reigning world downhill champion John Kucera broke his leg on Sunday.

Posh to perform in Ischgl Thursday

The Pacha club in Ischgl, Austria, is known for it's wild nightlife experiences.

Just a few days after Katy Perry rocked the season opening concert at Austria’s Ischgl resort, Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham will be performing at one of it’s clubs.

This Thursday December 3rd, the former Spice Girl and wife of soccer star David Beckham will perform live at the Pacha club in the Designhotel Madlein, Ischgl, for the launch of designer bottles of Rich Prosecco and Rich Rosé. The resort of Ischgl in the Austrian Tirol will welcome the style icon and fashion designer for a specially themed ‘Music and Fashion Fairytale’ evening.

‘QParks’ layout bringing the pros and fans at Bispingen

From the first day on, the riders were inspired by watching the tricks of the pros at Germany‘s Snowdome Bispingen.

The indoor snow centre launched its new ‘QParks’ layout recently with a special launch event starring both dome locals and new faces from the wider area, attracting a large number of spectators. After showing their tricks, the pros presented their brand-new moves at the photo and film session.

The new arrival area in Lienz is ready to for start of the Women's World Cup

When the women’s world cup pulls in to Lienz next month, they’ll be doing on it on a brand new run at Hochstein-mountain, that arrives right in the middle of the city of Lienz, the capital of East-Tirol that so closely is surrounded by the Lienzer Dolomites.

A renewal program in the area has seen the resort expand with a brand new lift ‘Schlossbergbahn’ that whisks skiers in less than five minutes from the centre of the city to the top of Moosalm (1514 m). The lift is a combination of twenty six-seated chairlifts and ten small gondola’s for eight people and it replaces the old fashioned two-seater chairlift.

May the biggest bum win

The ultimate ‘Snow Bum’ contest has moved in to its final stage, with entrants narrowed down to a top 20 potential bums from nine countries worldwide.

The competition was launched by Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia, Canada last month to win a near season-long luxury stay in the resort. Contestants stand to win three months of room and board in Sun Peaks along with all they need to ski every day, in exchange for which they need only compile a blog on the resort’s web site were asked to submit video entries online.

Manchester indoor ski centre launches youth academy

Athletes in training and beginners are all common at UK's indoor ski centres.

A new snowsports academy is set to give children in Northwest England an opportunity to become the UK’s skiing stars of the future.

New courses at Manchester’s Chill Factore indoor snow centre will offer children aged four to 16 the chance to receive top level instruction from experienced coaches. The snowsports academy will help instructors spot and nurture young talent, but is open to all children with an interest in snowsports, from complete beginners through to Championship level.
