Danish Politicians Warns of Dangers Associated with Bansko Development

A Danish member of the European Parliament (MEP) Margarete Auken visited Bulgaria earlier this month and, according to a report in the Sofia Echo, “ left the country with the impression that the problems with the Bulgarian nature were very serious and linked closely to organised crime, which destroys the nature and transforms it into money.”

Bulgarian Government Protects Natura 2000 Wilderness Areas

The Bulgarian government have decided not to allow construction on national park land that was previously designated Part of the Natura 2000 protected areas.
There is some dispute as to whether this was a reaction to pressure from EC Government or not, who according to some reports were threatening to instigate penalties against Bulgaria and cut the land officially included as part of the Natura 2000 protected land from about a third of Bulgaria’s territory to about a fifth.

Pamporovo Adds New Base Village

Bulgarian ski centre Pamporovo has announced plans to extend the ski area to link the existing village of Stoikite to the resort’s network. A three kilometre (just under two mile) long six-seat chairlift will be installed to make the connection upwards.

Bulgarian PM Attends Launch of Super Borovets Resort Development
