
Jackson Hole is a famous ski resort in Wyoming, USA
Wyoming’s Jackson Hole ski resort has joined Intrawest and Vail resorts in asking employees to wear helmets this winter, although not all employees.
The new rules have been introduced at the resort after management discussed the matter with the US government’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The decision also follows the death of ski patroller Kathryn Miller who was not wearing a helmet when she died in March in a fall while on duty in the backcountry near the resort.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Resorts Tapped LLC have announced the launch of JH Tapped, a GPS iPhone application developed exclusively for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. JH Tapped uses the iPhone’s built-in GPS to locate the user and their friends on the official Jackson Hole trail map and log the user’s runs and vertical feet travelled. The combination of a new lift and a favourable snowfall contributed towards a successful 2008/09 season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. A new $31 million Aerial Tram generated record season pass sales at the historical Wyoming resort.
With fireworks displays and light shows, Teton Village attracted more than 2000 visitors to celebrate the December 19th unveiling of Jackson Hole’s “cable to the sky.”

Covered with specially made covers by Marmot, Jackson Hole’s first new tram car (cable car) was moved from the upper parking lot to 150 feet above the nearly completed lower terminal, where crews then attached the hangar to the top of the car and then lifted it up by crane 80 feet and placed it onto the track cables.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will begin operations on November 29th, and the new aerial tram will open on December 20th, following a special “Tram Unveiling Night Show” at 6pm on Friday, December 19th.
Jackson Hole’s new aerial tram will be twice the size of the original, carrying 100 passengers. The sleek, new cabins, and visually inspiring base terminal only add to the faster and more efficient “cable to the sky”.
As well as the journey, it is the destination that captures the spirit of the Jackson Hole Tram, soaring 4,139 vertical feet in nine minutes to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain. The lift opens up a huge choice of ski routes below, not to mention incredible 360 views.

Construction of the replacement for Jackson hole’s iconic tram, which will be larger and faster than the original, is reported to be on target for a December 20th launch, by the resort.
Conditions have been challenging as winter lingers in the Tetons, but towers 1 and 3 are erected and the new foundation for tower 4 has been uncovered from 20 feet of snow.
Sea containers from Europe arrive daily, as crews dismantle the old and erect the new tram components. The first photos of the actual tram cars, being built in Europe, can now be found at www.tramformation.com.
