The new Austrian Eco-label is being awarded to tourist enterprises for their commitment in the fields of environmentally-friendly management and social responsibility. The Eco-label is a useful sign for guests who are concerned about these issues when deciding where to book their ski holiday accommodation.
Fsacilities awarded the Eco-Label make an active contribution to ensuring that Austria will remain a popular holiday destination and a symbol for a dedication to unspoilt nature, healthy air and clean lakes.
For the sake of the environment, the enterprises attach particular importance to providing a pick-up service or price reductions for arrival by public means of transportation, a natural and wholesome atmosphere, using natural building materials for construction, providing seasonal products from regional suppliers - particularly food from organic farming.
The accommodation provider should also minimize the purchase of supplies with unnecessary packaging material, operate a well organized waste-separation and recycling facility and minimize waste and whilst maximizing energy efficiency.
