Austrian slalom specialist Reinfried Herbst will be skiing for Fischer for at least two years after signing a contract with the company.
Herbst had previously skied with Blizzard and won the World Cup slalom title on that brand in 2010. His best result last season was an eighth scored at Schladming. He recently underwent shoulder surgery (March 29) to correct an injury sustained while training at Kitzbuehel.
“With my former outfitter I celebrated great successes, but now I want to look to the future and motivate me again,” he said. Herbst is 33. (Gepa photo.)

Hans Olsson broke his leg in the European Cup Finals downhill competition in La Thuile (ITA) today (March 15).
Olsson crashed heavily half way down the track after hitting a bump in the snow and falling backwards. Preliminary examinations indicated a broken shin bone and fibula of his right leg. He was transported to Hospital in Aosta for further examination.
"It was simply bad luck. Hans was skiing well when he hit a snow bump and the inner ski cut in. He fell backwards and got bounced around," said the speed coach Helmuth Krug.
Krug said the athlete was in great pain, but said, "Despite the situation, he was in relatively good mood."
Olsson plans to travel to Innsbruck as soon as possible for an operation.
Mattia Casse of Italy won the race over Christian Spescha of Switzerland. Austrian Johannes Kroell claimed the Europa Cup DH title.
With a surprise winner, a shocking upset and a farewell to one of the World Cup’s best, the women’s super G at the 2012 World Cup Finals in Schladming, Austria today (March 15) had it all.
Aksel Lund Svindal got the super G trophy today (March 15) without gaining a point.
