The Pirin mountains are being challenged by Bansko development companies.

Several ski resort developments in the Balkans, Carpathians and Dolomites have been under fire from environmental interests for their impact on protected areas and forests, and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is the latest to protest.

SkiRebel.com reported recently on UNESCO’s futile efforts to stop these developments, particularly at Bulgarian ski resort Bansko. The WWF, the global nature conservation organization, has published a review of several new ski projects planned for Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.

Ski Holiday Company Inghams exploring off the wall European ski destinations

Included in Inghams’s upcoming winter Ski and Snowboard programme are new trips to resorts in Slovakia, Andorra, and Romania, among 90 other resorts in 13 countries.

In Slovakia, new to Inghams this winter, is the resort of Salla in Lapland which offers many activities including reindeer, husky and snowmobile safaris, ice fishing and Learn to Ski and Board packages. Inghams also offers a choice of five resorts in Lapland and three and four night Santa Short Breaks in December.

This staggering growth was led with incredible traffic increases of more than 2000 % on March 28th alone.

SkiRebel Magazine Celebrates 1st Year…

Since the relaunch of the popular skirebel.com portal in February 2007, SkiRebel Magazine has managed to attract more than 22,658 unique visitors with some 67,000 page impressions.

Since migrating the PDF only online ski magazine to a more user friendly online format, magazine management is ecstatic with the initial results. So far 2008, SportsRebel Media Ventures (SMV) Ltd., the main shareholder of the online property is forecasting tripling online visits. So far the first week forecast is blowing that forecast out of the water.

A Flurry of visitors come to SkiRebel Magazine

Since the launch of the popular skirebel.com portal in February, SkiRebel Magazine has managed to increase traffic by 48% over the past five months. What started off as a pretty normal month in terms of visits and page views, quickly emerged into the busiest month with some days experiencing traffic increases by more than 80%.

‘We are really pleased to see these beneficial results so early on and specially during an off-peak season. This is really looking good for the upcoming 2007-2008 ski season when we will be releasing a number of new site features,’ said SkiRebel Magazine editor, Mike Styles.
