A damming report has uncovered that ski resorts in the Alps have the overstated the length of their runs.


A damming report by a German cartographer has revealed that european ski resorts have exagerated the size of their skiable terrain on average by 34%.

Luring would be winter vacationers is lucrative and the competition is fierce. Bryan Ferry to play Zermatt Unplugged in April

Brian Ferry is one of the stars playing at Zermatt Unplugged next April. He is the latest in a long line of international stars to play in the Swiss resort to celebrate the end of the ski season.

Ferry will play on the Marquee stage on Thursday 11th April. Other international stars include Skunk Anansie, Umberto Tozzi and Die Fantastischen Vier. The event runs from 9th - 13th April.

Along with the stars there’ll be 35 free concerts with mainly unknown musicians performing at nine locations around the village.

There’ll also be the Sunnegga Sessions – smaller concerts performed at 2,288 metres above sea level around sunset.

Saas Fee continues with free skiing offer in January

Saas-Fe offers free skiing with a stay at select hotels this January.

Skiers booking into a select few hotels from 4 – 7 nights will receive free skiing at Saas Fee resort in Switzerland throughout January.

Europe’s snowiest resort is open until May

Engelberg is introducing a number of new changes to the resort this coming season.

Engelberg resort, which has topped the table with the deepest snow cover in the world for much of winter 2011-12, announced recently that the end of the season won’t come before May 28th. The resort located in the German speaking portion of Switzerland, had total accumulations above 6m (20 feet) on two occasions and only managed to be overtaken by Mt Baker in Washington state towards the end of winter, said the Engelberg-Titlis glacier ski season will go on until the end of May.

“Sunshine into the evening and pleasant temperatures are sure to make your spring skiing experience awesome and unforgettable,” promises the resort.
