New Jersey is first to require minors wear helmets

Minors are now required to wear ski helmets in New Jersey

The state of New Jersey is the first state (or province) in North America to pass legislation requiring children under the age of 18 to wear helmets to ski or snowboard.

Year round resort with slopeside spa centre (Stay there and ski for free) and an off-season action park featuring 75 rides. Purchased by Intrawest (owners of Whistler, Tremblant, Mammoth etc) in February 1998 a massive investment in new lifts and upgrading of all amenities followed. 98% of the area is open for night skiing to 10pm nightly.

Intrawest turns the corner

It seems things may be turning around for Intrawest’s after it’s parent company’s rough financial year.

The resort operator of Whistler/Blackcomb announced this week that it has completed refinancing its previously outstanding debt payments.

Owner Fortress Inc. missed debt payments in December that led to a threat of auction from lenders. This auction was scheduled to occur in the middle of the 2010 Olympic Games. Since that time Fortress Investment Group, Intrawest’s primary creditors, have been working with lenders to restructure the $1.4 billion borrowed in 2006 that Fortress used when purchasing Intrawest.
