Ten more years for Vonn? Head thinks so.

(skiracing.com) - Thirty-six percent of the ski racing stars Head introduced at its pre-season press conference at Solden, Austria Thursday (Oct. 25), were Americans. That is not an accident according to Head boss Johan Eliasch. Does it speak to the strength of the US team, we asked? “It does,” Eliasch responds. “We don't select our athletes by nationality. We pick them by personality and performance.” Continue reading 'Ten more years for Vonn? Head thinks so.' Print This Post Print This Post

Winds cancel women’s World Cup downhill in Bansko

A women’s World Cup downhill scheduled for today (Feb. 25) at one of the world's best ski resorts in Bansko, Bulgaria was canceled due to persistent, high-speed winds. Gusty conditions arrived in the area Friday night but officials and a packed arena of fans at the bottom of the course held onto hope that the race could be still be held today. The start was delayed three and half hours while racers waited at the top of the mountain.  Organizers eventually lowered the start, eliminating 10 gates but the winds at the new start remained too strong to safely run the race. McKennis Blog: Back At It

Whew…that was a busy 10 days. The first chunk of races are finished! The first Downhill race in Lake Louise was quite the success for me. I had my best ever World Cup career result (8th place) and it was in my first race back from my injury. I can’t explain how happy I am with that result. It meant so much to me to get back in the races so soon let alone get a top ten. I was hoping that I would place top 20 but I had my doubts that would even happen. It is a huge weight off my shoulders to know that when I dial things in and execute I can still be fast, it’s hard to know if you can still do it when it’s been almost a year since your last race. After only getting 10 days in gates before the race I was feeling ready but not totally confident in my skiing, after Lake Louise I feel a lot better about my skiing but I know I still have a lot of things to work on.
