ABasin was the ski area in Colorado to open up this past weekend.
Arapahoe Basin ski area in Colorado received bragging rights for 2013-14 as it was the first ski area in North America to crank up the lifts for a season last Sunday. Although much of it was mechanically made, they received a big dump of snow early early last week to give them that extra nudge. Others in the opening pipeline in the coming weeks include Loveland Ski Area later this week, Keystone resort on November 1 and Vail and Steamboat and a swath of others are planning to be open on time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
