Ski Plex facility opens up

A new Skiplex (www.skiplex.co.uk) rotating ski slope has opened at Woodley near, Reading, the company’s second, opening only a year after the company’s first at Chiswick.

The new slope is located in a formerly disused warehouse in Headley Park 10 where the company has installed its conveyor style slope

“This would be a very useful tool for beginners and intermediates and racing skiers who need a rolling surface,” Paul Webb, father of Wokingham’s 2014 Winter Olympic hopeful James told local media, “It will definitely have a place in ski training and I’m sure it will be welcomed in Woodley.”

Skiplex is already working on a third location, the Airkix indoor skiing and skydiving centre coming to Basingstoke in 2013.

The Midlothian Snow-sports Centre at Hillend, in Edinburgh, which already operates one of the world’s biggest artificial-ski slope surfaces has submitted a planning application for an extra 210-metre slope, another 80 metre nursery slope, upgrading existing nursery slopes, new tubing runs and two new conveyor lifts.
