Push yourself to the limit in France’s Paradiski

Speed-flying is available in Les Arcs in Paradiski.

There are plenty of brutally fast, exciting, and dangerous winter sports the bravest of the brave can choose from, but rarely can one experience almost all of them in one place.

France’s Paradiski ski region is trying to change that this year as it plays host to an array of adrenalin-pumping, side-splitting and quirky sports that are not for the faint hearted.

In addition to first class facilities for skiing, snowboarding and telemarking, Paradiski is a unique mountain playground offering the more adventurous the chance to experience bobsleighing on France’s only Olympic bobsleigh run, ski-joering, ice climbing, snow rugby, speed-flying, watersliding and much more for those willing to pit their wits against Mother Nature.

Speed flying takes off in Les Arcs this month

Speed Flying is a combination of several extreme sports.

The exciting sport of speed flying, which involves descending a ski slope with a small parascending sail attached to your back, will converge on Les Arcs ski area later this month.

The Columbia Speed Flying Pro les Arcs 2010 contest will take place from the 25th to the 29th of January in the French ski area. In just one year, this unusual event has become a rendezvous for the planet’s best Speed Flyers. The invitational will bring 20 athletes together from seven nationalities to compete. The goal is to win “Speed Flyer of the Year” – the title currently held by Antoine Montant. Shown on a huge screen, the runs will be judged by the other riders.
