French government has increased VAT to 7 per cent on lift passes.

Following in the footsteps of its European counterparts, the French Government has increased the Value Added Tax (VAT) on lift passes from 5.5% to 7% as from 1 January 2012 as a way to reign in on a ballooning debts.

Les 2 Alpes –one of the two French resorts open for summer skiing – is investing more than $5-million USD ahead of the upcoming season to build a new quad chairlift, improve signage and install avalanche triggers to protect power lines. Pralognan la Vanoise is investing massively in new lifts for the 2010-11 season.

Pralognan la Vanoise in the French Savoie region is getting one of the country’s biggest resort infrastructure upgrades for the upcoming season.
