Description

One of the major centres in the Val di Fiemme, with all facilities, and a great base for skiers who can access the resort’s own large ski area on Alpe Cermis, or the Ski Center Latemar with access from Pampeago or Predazzo.

Review

Cavalese is the major centres in the Val di Fiemme, one of the twelve ‘valleys’ on the giant Dolomiti Superski pass. The local ski areea is directly above the resort on Alpe Cermis and several other major sectors are nearby, all on the same lift ticket – the Ski Center Latmar across the valley and the Fassa Valley (gateway to the Sella Ronda, the largert lift linked section of Dolomiti Superski) and San Martino ski areas.

Cavalese is quite a large resort with all facilities, and a great base for skiers who can access the resort’s own large ski area on Alpe Cermis (the gondola base is either a short bus ride or about a 500m walk from the resort centre), or the Ski Center Latemar above Pampeago. The town itself has a picturesque old village centre completed with cobbled streets and appealing old shops and eateries.

The setting of the resort is a big attraction too and the sc enery gets better as you head on up to the ski slopes. Spectacular views are no rarity in the Dolomites, but one of the most beautiful of all is the panoramic view from Paion del Cermis above Cavalese. Rosengarten, Langkofel, Sella, Marmolada and the awe inspiring Tower of the Pala Group are some of the fantastic peaks to be seen from here. The majestic beauty of these mountains is both astounding and simply unforgettable.

The Dolomites have been added as UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.

Ghana’s Snow Leopard now training at Italy’s Val Di Fiemme

Acheampong tearing down the slopes at Val Di Fiemme.

Kwame Nkrumah Acheampong, a.k.a. Snow Leopard, has switched his training from his indoor location at Hemel Hempstead’s Snow Centre to Val Di Fiemme, in Trentino, Italy.

This is the fourth season that the African skier has based himself in this perfect location that has already seen him qualify for the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010.

The ski resort of Pampeago in Val Di Fiemme sits at 1750m (5740ft) above sea level and morning training runs leave most training skiers gasping for air. Once on the slopes Acheampong is at home, honing his technique and race speed, and continuing his interesting story. Acheampong is expected to be the first person from Ghana to take part in the Winter Olympics.

Dolomites unveils new ski run with steep pitch

New run to promises to be challenging to all skiers

New Torre di Pisa run promises to challenge all skiers this winter

Tough New Run In The Dolomites

The Ski Center Latemar in the Val di Fiemme/Obereggen district of the Italian Dolomites is one of the few in the world to be debuting a new piste this season.
The new “Torre di Pisa” is described as a technical run and will provide an alternative route down to the existing “5 Nazioni“ slope in the Passo Feudo/Predazzo sector.
The run is 1,550m long and has a vertical drop of 460m with gradients of up to 59%.
The new run is served by the “Gardonè/Passo Feudo“ high speed quad chairlift and the area is included on the Dolomiti Supereski pass.
