Back by popular demand this archive image of the WSSF 2006 festival taken by Matt Walker shows just how much you'll miss the party if you don't come cout.

What merely began as a festival to celebrate the ski season’s year end, seventeen years later, Whistler’s World Ski and Snowboard Festival  ranks among the best and largest ski festivals going by attracting international skiing talent from all four corner of the planet.

That’s because when the festival gets going from April 13-22, most ski resorts have packed it up for the season, leaving Whistler with an abundance of the white stuff and snow conditions that can surprise many.

This year there’s an ‘end of the world’ theme as the Myans have predicted it for December 2012 apparently. So the rejuvenation of Fashion Exposed will be complete with an apocalyptic theme and sexy, sassy fashion brands strutting the runway in preparation for the end of the world.

Adding to the energetic vibe will be a selection of incredible dance crews, vying for top spot in the Freeze Dance Showcase. The crews will be judged by the fashion elite, the audience themselves, for the People’s Choice Award and $1000 prize. Both events will take place on Friday April 20.

Already in the music line up is the world famous, and self-proclaimed genre-smashing, band The Cat Empire. Playing Sunday April 15th, The Cat Empire will help kick off the 10 days of festivities with their iconic ‘anything goes’ sound.

On the slopes the bad boys of energy town, Monster Energy, are back to present The Shred Show, with five days of shredness from the who’s who of snowboarding and The Association of Freeskiing Professionals, AFP, is also back to present the World Skiing Invitational from April 18-22.
